The Handover Challenge
Twenty minutes, two roles, one honest score. First you're the person going away. Then you're the colleague left behind. See how many situations you can handle without calling anyone.
How it works
Pick a case
Choose a ready-made person, with a case card full of facts: customers, promises, exceptions and things that will go wrong.
Do the interview
Play that person. Answer the handover interview in your own words, using the case card. About 10 minutes.
Switch and ask
Now you're the colleague. Six situations land on your desk. Ask Team Continue about each one and see your score.
Three ready-made cases
Each one tests a different moment.
Sanne, account manager
HolidayTwo weeks away. A phone agreement about invoicing, a promised callback, a discount that must survive a renewal.
Mark, support lead
Sick leaveCalls in sick unexpectedly. Can his last check-in carry the team through a failing backup and an SLA customer?
Ingrid, finance controller
LeavingNine years of knowledge: bank mandates, supplier terms agreed in 2022, and a year-end trick nobody else knows.
Play alone, or in pairs: one person does the interview, the other — who hasn't seen the case card — asks the questions. That's the most honest test.
The real test: your own work
Ready-made cases show how it works. Your own team shows whether it works for you. Here's how to set up a pilot that gives a clear answer within a month.
- Pick one person who's going on holiday within four weeks. Ideally someone customers call directly.
- Plan the interview a week ahead, not on their last afternoon. At a quiet moment.
- Name one colleague who covers, and agree they ask Team Continue before they call or message.
- Count the calls. How often was the person on holiday contacted? That's the number that matters.
- Read the return brief together when they're back. The gaps show which questions to add next time.
